Are there any entry requirements?
For most undergraduate qualifications you don’t need any formal qualifications to study with us because we believe anyone keen to succeed should have the opportunity to study. Our diagnostic activities and guidance will help you assess if you are ready to study with us.
For almost all postgraduate study, you will need to have an undergraduate degree already (most likely a BA or a BSc).
If you have already successfully completed some higher-education level study before, you may be able to count some of it towards an OU qualification.
Not sure if you’re ready? Try a short introductory Openings course
If you would like to try Open University study before you commit to a qualification, our Openings courses could be the right place for you to start. These introductory-level courses have been specially designed to help you find out what it’s like to study with the OU, get a taste of a subject area, develop your study skills, and build your confidence. There is also financial support available for these courses. Read more about our Openings courses.
I don’t know yet what I want to do
If you’re not yet ready to commit to registering for a qualification you can still study with us. Most of our modules are available on a standalone basis, and for each module you successfully complete, you’ll earn credits that you could count towards an OU qualification.
You just need to be sure that the module you choose is right for you in terms of level, study commitment and meeting your aims.

I always wondered what it took to achieve a degree - and now I am starting to find out. It's a really exciting adventure."
