APEL – making your work experience count

If you don’t have any academic qualifications, but have been working and have lots of experience, then you may be interested in our courses designed for people in just your situation. They are called APEL (or APL) courses, because they offer Accreditation for Prior (Experiential) Learning.

Working in computing and looking for a qualification?

If you’re working in a computing environment and you have selected qualifications from within the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) programme you may be interested in.

Experienced in the workplace but no professional qualifications?

If you’ve got experience in a professional area but no academic qualifications, then Make your experience count (U122) could be just what you’re looking for – this is an opportunity to gain credit towards higher education qualifications by drawing on your prior learning experiences.

Working and learning: developing effective performance at work (BU130) is a course that links learning to your experiences in the workplace, and it can also count towards a university degree. See the Work-based learning page.
