If you don’t qualify for a fee loan, or choose not to apply for one, you can pay your tuition fees in one of the following ways:
- Pay by instalments with an Open University Student Budget Account
- pay upfront securely with a debit or credit card
- speak to your employer about sponsorship
- pay all or part of your fees with OU gift vouchers
Pay by instalments with an Open University Student Budget Account
UK, European Economic Area and Switzerland students can defer or spread the cost with a credit agreement from Open University Student Budget Accounts Ltd (OUSBA):
- Register now, pay later – OUSBA pays your full fee direct to us. You repay OUSBA interest-free and in full just before your module starts.
- Pay by instalments – OUSBA pays your full fee at registration and you repay the loan in monthly instalments. Currently, interest is applied at 5.0 per cent (APR 5.1 per cent).

Sponsorship
Sponsorship means your employer pays your fees. If the qualification or course you’ve chosen is geared towards your job or developing your career, you could ask your employer to sponsor you by paying some or all of the fees.
We’ll send you information and a sponsorship form in your registration pack. If your employer is paying up front, you make a registration as usual, indicating that you will be sponsored and the OU will invoice your employer.
If your employer is reimbursing you, the OU will send an academic transcript when you have completed the course.

OU gift vouchers
OU gift vouchers make an inspiring present, ideal if you’re looking for an unusual gift for someone special. Or ask family and friends to support your own study by buying vouchers for special occasions. Find out more about buying or redeeming vouchers.
Discounts and refunds
If you do decide to withdraw or defer your studies, we have a discount and refund policy.
The percentage of your fee that we will refund (or discount future study) to you on withdrawal will depend on variables such as the date of your cancellation, what you are studying, your payment method and whether you are a new or continuing student.
