Study explained

"Bringing learning to life"

Studying with The Open University can be an inspiring, challenging and ultimately rewarding experience. Yet certain 'facts of life' inevitably get in the way and questions can arise. Can I afford it? Do I have the time? Is it worth it? This site is designed to give you the answers to some of those questions.

We can't change the realities of work and family life, but we can show you how the OU can make it easier for students to discover and develop their true potential.

For example, with our unique, world-leading style of distance learning, the OU enables you to study from home, work or even on the bus, at a time that suits you. With a wide choice of part-time courses, at a variety of levels plus several start dates, the OU offers the choice and flexibility you need. What's more, with a range of financial support available, an OU course could cost less than you think.

In Your View: The OU and I, recent graduates entered a video booth to talk about their experience of studying with The Open University.

The OU and the UK government fund a range of financial support services to help you with the costs of studying. This year we expect at least 38,000 students to receive some kind of financial support for their OU studies. See Help with paying for study for more information.
