The Open University's Centre for Geographical and Environmental Research
Research themes are interdisciplinary, activity based groupings designed to foster a cooperative approach to geographical research. They aim to involve geographers, other disciplines and non-academics in co-building leading, socially relevant and theoretically robust knowledge.
If you are interested in finding out more about these activities or in participating in the themes please email the contact person. Future workshops and seminars are listed on the events page.
The focus of research in this theme is on understanding the changing spaces and spatialities of social life, cultural practice and political action.
The materiality research theme looks at what it means to think consistently through both the human and the nonhuman dimensions of our collective lives.
Work in the environment research theme focuses on questions of environmental policy and justice, focusing on a variety of contemporary challenges, including climate change, ecological resilience and biosecurity.
