just a little query, is anyone else using an Apple Mac for their studies, if so is there any special programs I need, and when I send my work in will it be readable on other computers?
Thanks Naomi

I've been successfully using a Mac for the past 3 years. Initially I was using Open Office for assignments before switching over to Office 2008 for Mac. I've never had any problems submitting TMAs online or tutors being able to read and mark them on a PC.
I have needed to access a PC occasionally to run a PC specific CD, or DVD.
There is a good site here to check compatability for individual modules.
I have been using a Mac my whole 5 OU years. I used Pages to write reports and exported them as .doc files. I also used Pages to open marked/commented .doc files I received from my tutors.
However, I had to use the SPSS statistics software provide by the OU. Unfortunately they did only send the Windows version and not the Mac OS X version. Therefore I used "VMware Fusion" virtualisation software to run Windows on my Mac in a separate window besides my OS X. You should be able to run any Windows Software within a virtual Windows using VMware or similar virtualisation software (like Parallels).
