EVERYONE I know is signing up for this course (inside every OU student/alum is a frustrated author?) But is it any good? Did it move your writing on/inspire you/help you focus, etc etc?

I did the Start Writing Plays course and it was excellent. I then went on to do the Level 2 Creative Writing course and that was even better. The courses do inspire you becuase you know someone will be closely readinh what you write and they certainly get you into a more productive frame of mind. I can´t recommend them highly enough.

For the first time in over 30 years I started writing short stories in a ´come-dpwn´ after exams in September. I have not intention of publishing, but have had encouraging feedback from friends who have seen the first efforts. When I am out of the degree-chasing situation, in a couple of years, I would like to try a course like this.

... and I really must learn to proof-read for typos before hitting the ´post´ button.

Hope the humanities course is what you´re looking for and good luck with the creative writing course when you get on to that one Ness.

Just like to say...I did the A215 creative writing course last year and I would recommend it to any writer. I´ve been a closet writer for years; half did a writing course years ago and didn´t stick with it mainly through lack of feedback. The creative writing course with OU gave me the critisism I needed, the support of others online and the discipline needed to write well.
I´m presently doing Approaching Literature which, even if I don´t like the academics, I am learning how to appreciate the daffodils of Wordsworth! If I get through this I´ll be signing up for advanced creative writing next year.
Good luck all with your studies..

I did A215 a few years back and thoroughly enjoyed it. Now I´m a published author and regular contributor to a magazine. This all happened after I got my OU degree which gave me the confidence to go for it!

Part of my problem is finding the motivation to write fiction, and being able to share it with other people. I therefore find online fiction courses very helpful, if only because they provide me with deadlines and contact with other would-be writers.
