The Digilab is a creative space on the ground floor of the Library, designed to inspire and support innovation in the development of pedagogically effective learning materials.
Digilab is intended to encourage exploration of new ideas and knowledge sharing. The room contains many examples of handheld, gaming and media technologies, which some staff may not be familiar with, as well as literature showing how they could be exploited for learning and teaching.
Digilab aims to help people bridge the gap between their current practice and future aspirations, empowering them in their professional development along the way.
Using Digilab
Digilab is available to any member of Open University staff, including Associate Lecturers and PhD students at any time when the Library is open. If you would like a tour or induction, please contact us. External visitors can view the Digilab in the company of Open University staff, or by arrangement with Library staff.
The Digilab is a drop-in space, open to all. It cannot be booked, because we would like to encourage people to wander in and meet other users. However, if you let us know you are planning to bring a large group we will add events to the Digilab calendar.
Equipment Loans
As well as being able to use educational technologies in the Digilab, Open University staff and full-time PhD students in the Milton Keynes area can borrow a selection of equipment from the library.
This equipment is intended to be used for investigating ways that technologies can be used to improve flexibility of course delivery and improve the learning experience.
