Vision and Values

Library Services aims to help broaden and improve the learning experience of students and introduce them to the wider variety of online information and resources at the Open University; where they can extend their horizons and reach their potential.

Library Services enables all OU staff and students worldwide to access quality resources produced internally at the OU and from external providers. Here they can explore, control and interact with information and a range of tools to empower the independent learner or practitioner.

Library Services works towards an integrated support system for students in partnership with staff across the University. Through consultation, advice, guidance and training we support module and course production, Associate Lecturers, the research community and other staff.

Library Services puts customers at the heart of all it does. It aims to make it easier to access quality information resources through using up-to-date, innovative technologies and the expertise of its staff that specialise in supporting open learners and open learning methodologies.
