Widgets

A web widget is a portable tool that can be used in a range of different places such as on an iGoogle page or on a Vista or Mac desktop. The widget can be embedded into your blogs or html pages allowing you to search the Open University library catalogue or read an RSS news feed from your favourite place.

We have created a widget version of the Open University library catalogue search. The widget can be downloaded from Widgetbox. Click the green Get Widget button, choose where you want to use the widget from the options and follow the instructions to add. You can use the widget in several different locations, including blogs, iGoogle and Netvibes.

OU Library news and new books widgets

You can create your own widget using Open University library RSS feeds if you wish, there are a number of tools that allow you to create a widget for your blog or webpage from an RSS feed.
