Once you are qualified as a social worker, there are many routes for career progression and professional development, from specialising in a particular area – such as child protection, work with adults or mental health – to working towards more senior roles in practice or management.
You’re also required to keep your skills and knowledge up to date, and to demonstrate this when you renew your registration with the care council every three years.
