Home to the UK’s largest part-time social work degree, and increasingly engaged in continuing professional development including a top-up degree for diploma-qualified social workers.

Faculty academics are also practitioners in the field and work closely with employers to develop a responsive and innovative curriculum. Staff specialisms include safeguarding and child protection; working with families; mental health; and adult social care.

Choosing the right route to qualification

A former Open University Social Work student talks about what it was like to study with the OU and why he chose the distance-learning route. @SimplySW said: “I found the support they provided best met my needs as an adult learner.
