Profile

Mahruf joined the Open University in January, 2009. Currently he is involved with the Centre for Research in Education and Educational Technology (CREET). He worked on the ‘English in Action’ project from January 2009 to March 2011. Before joining the OU, he worked as a Residential Tutor and Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Manchester .

Mahruf carried out his doctoral research on school transition, specially focus on transition from nonformal to formal education sector using Bronfenbrenner’s ecological theory as a theoretical framework. He also worked with BRAC, the world largest NGO, several times as a Research Intern during his doctoral research. He has been working with a research group which is focusing on fieldwork research in the global south. The group is working on fieldwork researcher as well as inclusive education and contributing to different conferences.

In 2007, Mahruf was a Guest Lecturer at the University of Helsinki, Finland. Currently he is engaged with carrying out research on teachers’ professional development, technology in education and English language teaching and learning, childhood poverty and education.
