Technology Enhanced Learning

Technology Enhanced LearningWe carry out research into new uses of technology in a wide range of teaching and learning contexts. This includes research that focuses on networked and online environments, innovative technologies, emergent pedagogies and online learner experiences and there is a growing body of research into how learning, teaching and scholarship is changed by the increasing use of social networking and Web 2.0. We also research the potential and challenges of new and emerging Web-technologies for disabled students.

Particular areas of research include:

  • Networked and collaborative learning

  • Learners’ interactions and experiences

  • Effective design for learning

  • Open Educational Resources

  • New forms of digital scholarship and discourse

  • Evaluation the impact of technologies on teachers’ support roles and organisations

  • Mobile learning facilitated by the use of portable and handheld devices

  • Technology adoption and emergent innovative practice among teachers and learners

  • Whilst most of our research is empirical there is a strong strand of conceptual analysis, theory and method development and literature review

Contexts for our research include:

  • Tertiary education

  • Primary and secondary education (K-12)

  • Professional and workplace education

  • Informal learning
