Young Applicants in Schools Scheme > How to register

How to register

Registration for YASS modules is organised through schools (or college), although students deal directly with the OU when it comes to their course work and assessment.

How much does it cost for an institution to join YASS and is it straightforward?

There is no cost to join YASS. Interested institutions should allocate one person to be the coordinator and the Open University will advise that person about the Scheme and answer questions, either at an information day, a face to face meeting, or by phone. The appropriate registration forms will also be supplied.

The institution will then agree to accept responsibility for selecting and registering suitable students.

Payments for YASS modules

The fee for each module is listed on the website. Fees vary, depending on the length of the module. The school, acting as sponsor, can either send a cheque to The Open University or request an invoice (often the preferred option), which should be paid about one month after the module has begun. It is also acceptable for a third party, usually a parent or carer, to pay the young student’s fees, although the educational contract remains with the student.
