ICG Certificate in Career Guidance Theory Pathway
These work based qualifications have been introduced by Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) after extensive consultation with the career guidance sector. They are part of a new qualification strategy for the adult career information, advice and guidance sector in England. They are specifically designed for those working in the new Next Step Service, external agency and voluntary service guidance roles and roles where staff who work in other organisations provide career advice and guidance, information, employability and signposting as part of their wider work role.
Level 3 Award in Supporting Clients to Overcome Barriers to Learning and Work
The Level 3 Award is designed for people working in the wider adult advice and guidance network including the public, private and voluntary sectors, FE colleges and library and information staff. It gives the opportunity to gain a qualification that recognises the career information and advice role of those who provide employability support and signposting services.
Level 4 Diploma in Career Information and Advice
The Level 4 Diploma is aimed at people undertaking para-professional roles within the careers guidance sector. Practitioners are likely to be involved in the following:
- Giving information and advice
- Making referrals
- Diagnosing and assessing the needs of clients
Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development
The Level 6 Diploma is aimed at people working in professional roles providing career guidance and development to clients. It is aimed at those who are required to apply career guidance theories to practice in order to support clients to make realistic and informed decisions and plans regarding new learning or training opportunities and career planning.
ICG Certificate in Career Guidance Theory Pathway
New for 2012 - this certificate has been introduced for people who have already achieved an NVQ Level 4 in Advice and Guidance and who want to upgrade their 'careers focussed' qualifications so they are eligible to be included on the Career Development Professional register which is launched by the Career Professional Alliance in April 2012.
Please note that from April 2011 the work of LLUK was taken over by LSIS. For further information please go to the LSIS website.
