Employers as partners
UNISON can play a key role in establishing learning partnerships with employers, which promote a wide range of work-based learning. Everyone benefits – workers improve their skills and public services get better. Working in partnership, UNISON and employers throughout the public services can contribute to creating a culture of learning at work in the 21st century.
Getting going locally
How do you get started? This part of the site will help you to find out what the OU can offer UNISON members, give you advice about the best ways to plan courses at work, and help with ideas for creating easy to organise short sessions, which can interest your members in learning.
Learning in the branch
Throughout the UK, UNISON is developing local resources to encourage learning. Working through UNISON Learning Representatives (ULRs) and branch education teams UNISON is creating new learning opportunities for its members. UNISON’s aim is to create a ladder of opportunity for its members, which can take them from basic skills to professional qualifications. Much of this work is based on learning partnerships with employers.
