Supporting underrepresented groups in Wales

The Open University promotes educational opportunity and social justice by providing high quality University education to all who wish to realise their ambitions and fulfil their potential.

Over the last few years the OU in Wales has targeted and developed a variety of outreach initiatives to raise awareness and support access to Higher Education for a range of under-represented groups across Wales. As part of our commitment to Widening Access we will continue to develop such pathway programmes to enhance opportunities for groups traditionally under represented in Higher Education to achieve success.

Case study - Emma Freeman

Emma first came to the OU through Homestart in Wrexham. She participated in taster activities and then signed up for one of our Openings courses. Several modules later, she is well on her way to her degree.
