Centre for Citizenship, Identities and Governance
The Centre for Citizenship, Identities and Governance (CCIG) is a University designated Centre of Research Excellence
In this recent Keynote lecture jointly organised by CCIG, CHERI and OpenSpace, Professor Craig Calhoun, president of the Social Science Research Council gives his views on the future of research funding in higher education.
Drawing upon the example of the University of California, Professor Calhoun argues for a need to think carefully about the nature of free inquiry in a system whose financial structure are undergoing large systematic change.
This talk should be of great interest to those concerned with the future of research funding in the social sciences and its relation to public engagement and dissemination.
