The Imaginary Geographies of the War on Terror - Angharad Closs Stephens Seminar

In this seminar, Angharad Closs Stephens from the Department of Geography at Durham University critically considers debates about the 'war on terror' and its imaginary geographies.

Dr Stephens is currently working on a large-scale project exploring the politics and possibilities of imagining community without nationalism. It is an interdisciplinary venture, and draws on writings in politics, international relations, philosophy and geography. It will lead to a research monograph (‘The Community in Time’) as well as a series of interventions, exploring i) the politics of citizenship through design and architecture; ii) critical responses to ‘loss’ in the aftermath of 11 September 2001; and iii) ‘minor literature’ as a tool for thinking critically. These interventions all focus on the city as a site for thinking community differently.
