'Big Cuts, Big Society' Third Sector Roundtable

Tuesday, 26 April 2011, 15:00 - 16:30

The Open University, Walton Hall, Michael Young Building, Meeting Rooms 1-3, Milton Keynes, MK7 6AA

As increasing calls for volunteerism and philanthropy collide with government budget cuts and civil disobedience, what is the role and place of civil society organisations and citizen participation in the UK? This is the latest in a series of ongoing events on the theme of 'Big Cuts, Big Society: politics of the contemporary' convened by the Centre for Citizenship, Identities and Governance (CCIG). CCIG aims to open out possibilities for OU academics to contribute to this important area of contemporary public debate and we warmly invite you to join us.

Panellists to include: Mousa Baraka (lead organiser, Citizens:MK); Pragna Patel (Director, Southall Black Sisters); Simon Burall (Director, INVOLVE) and more.
Chaired by Janet Newman (Emeritus Professor, OU).

Pragna Patel recently made it onto The Guardian’s International Women's Day ‘Top Hundred Women’ list; for further details visit:
