Consistent with the social justice mission of the wider Open University, the School has placed significant emphasis on the wider responsibilities of managers and businesses since its formation over 25 years ago. Research and scholarship activity relating to socially responsible management is wide ranging and includes: social marketing (see ISM-Open); marketing and advertising ethics, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, ethics aspects of taxation decisions, surveillance, developing financial capabilities. In addition to a socially responsible management, the research and scholarship activities of our law academics emphasise social responsibility and include: human rights law, reduction in corporate manslaughter, medical law, children and families and corporate social responsibility.
