
Professor Frank Go is a member of The Open University's Centre for Innovation, Knowledge and Enterprise.
Frank Go is Visiting Professor in the Management of Knowledge and Innovation Research Unit. He is professor in the Department of Marketing and Endowed Chair of Tourism at the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), Erasmus University. He is also Visiting professor at Rikkyo University, Tokyo.
He is a member of the editorial board of seven international learned journals and was invited by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development to research a multiple year research study on e-tourism and brand imagery within selected destinations in emerging economies. He was identified among the top 40 scholars globally providing academic leadership in tourism research, as measured by the quantity of articles published in eight journals in the field between 1985 and 2004 (Zhao, W and Brent Ritchie, JR (2007) Tourism Management 28(2) 476-490).
Professor Go and Dr Stephen Little have collaborated since 2005 as members of the Odyssey Group of organisation researchers and have made reciprocal visits to their respective institutions. Their common interest is in the role of tourism infrastructure in support of other forms of development and in the management of regional brand identity for both incomers and residents. They contributed to the 2004 meeting on "Migration, Identity and New Information Technology", University of Ulster (2004) and in July 2005 provided a joint contribution to an Odyssey Group sponsored stream "Accessibility, Mobility and Connectivity: Changing Frontiers of Daily Routines" at the 37th World Congress of the International Institute of Sociology held in Stockholm.
Dr Little presented the core ideas of his 2004 book at the Rotterdam School of Management in February 2005 and Professor Go presented a seminar at the Open University Business School in December 2005. A further workshop in this series was in The Hague in May 2007 on the theme of "Imagination, Media Power and Reputation".
A separate joint workshop with Erasmus University and Rikkyo University Tokyo was hosted at the Open University in November 2007. Professor Go and Dr Little were invited participants at a subsequent seminar at Rikkyo University, Saitama, Japan in November 2009 and the accompanying conference of the Japan Institute of Tourism Research
Currently Professor Go is co-editing a series of International Place Branding Yearbooks for Palgrave Macmillan for which Dr Little is a contributor and reviewer. He is providing a place-branding perspective to the development of a comparative study of science investment on regional development with Dr Little and other colleagues.
Professor Go's research interests are in tourism marketing; tourism and IT, event management and marketing; image, choice and sense making; e-marketing: relations, encounters and emotions.
