Biography

My interests are based within the field of Inter-Organisational Relations focusing on how context, structuers and processes influence how individuals, pairs and groups perform tasks.

Between 2000 and 2006 I worked as a structural integrity specialist for an international engineering consultancy. This led me to work on a number of projects for different engineering organisations inspiring me to improve my understanding of working across organisational boundaries. Thus in 2006 I started as a Researcher at the Innovative Design and Manufacturing Research Centre, University of Bath, studying collaborating in engineering design. In this research I looked at the influence of working across organisational boundaries (ncluding private and public sectors) and knowledge boundaries (different types of designs - novel/ adaptive) and completed my PhD thesis in 2010.

Currently I am researching partnerships involving public and third sector organisations at the Open University Business School. Specifically I am looking how participants adjust and cope to the challenges and tensions that are present to governing these partnerships.

Areas of expertise

  • organisational behaviour
  • inter-organisational relations
  • third sector
  • engineering design
