Partnerships and collaborations are vital to HEAT. We work closely with and within Governments (such as the Ethiopian Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH)) and have worked alongside partners on almost every aspect of the programme - from collaborating with African health experts and academics in the creation of the HEAT theoretical training materials through to working with global NGOs in the planning and delivery of the practical training.
HEAT’s key partners are listed below. We’re also talking with experts in the fields of mobile technology, and other cadres of healthcare, to make sure that HEAT reaches its full potential.
As the directing and coordinating authority on international health for the UN, the WHO’s expertise in working alongside countries to implement public health solutions is world class. The WHO has contributed directly to the content of HEAT’s modules and is fundamental to the implementation of the Ethiopian FMOH’s practical training programme.
The African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) is Africa’s leading health development organisation, working for over 50 years to bring health care to Africa’s most vulnerable communities. Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, AMREF’s vision is lasting health change in Africa, and will be working alongside the WHO to deliver the practical health care training element of the programme.
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is the world's leading organisation protecting the rights of children and young people, working with local communities, partners and governments in over 190 countries. UNICEF Ethiopia and UNICEF New York both play a crucial part in HEAT’s strategic direction and in acting as global ambassadors for the programme.
