CNAA Digital Records Archive

OUVS maintains a digital archive of records of course awards issued by the Council for National Academic Awards (CNAA)

• Undergraduate and Postgraduate Awards
• Honorary Degrees and Higher Doctorates
• Research Degrees
• National Council for Diplomas in Art and Design and Higher Diplomas in Art and Design (NCDAD)
• National Council for Technological Awards (NCTA)
• Scottish Diplomas in Art (SDA)
• Conversion of awards of NCDAD, NCTA, DipArt and Art and Design Associateship of Central Institutions in Scotland to CNAA degrees. 
• Department of Education and Science Diplomas in Management Studies (DMS)

Proforma verification

OUVS offers a pro-forma verification document styled in a similar format to an award certificate. A fee of £40 is charged for this service.

All Pro Forma verifications will be sent to UK mainland addresses by 1st class post or internationally by the Royal Mail 'Signed For' service.

Additional Services

We are in a position to offer letters that provide additional information to what is already contained in the standard Proforma Verification document.

Duplicate and Replacement Certificates

When CNAA was abolished the Department of Education and Science did not authorise any successor body to issue certificates following dissolution. Consequently it is not possible for OUVS or any other body to provide certificates or to issue duplicate or replacement certificates relating to CNAA awards. Instead OUVS offers a pro-forma verification document styled in a similar format to an award certificate. 

The loss or destruction of an original certificate does not in any way invalidate the award - the record of the award will continue to be held and can be verified and attested from this original record in the ways described above. However it is important to emphasise that no further awards may be made and no new, replacement or duplicate award documents may be produced in the name of, or by authority of, the awarding powers of CNAA.

Student Transcripts

Student transcripts cannot be provided by OUVS. Graduates wishing to obtain transcripts relating to all or any part of the programme that they undertook as a student should apply directly to the institution at which they studied.
